On October 23, 2004, the Niigata-Chuetsu Earthquake struck Nagaoka. In
an unforgettable instant, so much was lost. The quake caused major damage.
Yet it reinforced our love for our home, and reminded us of the importance
of working together. These are the driving forces as we join hands and
rebuild. On April 1, 2005, the city of Nagaoka opened a new chapter in
its history, cimbining with neighboring municipalities. We will make full
use of the power of the region, and create new value in this place.
２００４年１０月２３日、新潟県中越大震災が長岡を襲いました。多くのものを失ったこの瞬間を、私たちはずっと忘れないでしょう。この震災は、ふるさとを愛する心を、人と人が力を合わせていく大切さを、私たちに教えてくれました。それが、手と手を取り合い復旧活動に取り組む原動力となっています。２００５年４月１日、周辺市町村と合併し、長岡市は新たな一歩を踏み出しました。「地域力」が新生長岡市の活力となり、新しい価値を創造していくでしょう。 |
